DUST JACKET PROJECT
Dust Jacket is a record by Joel P West that was originally only available by trading something handmade, and this gallery is an anonymous collection of everything that was been exchanged. The record is now available at Bandcamp.

I took this photo on the floor of the Chicago Cultural Center on one of those days when I broke under the strain. I knew there was this dome there, so went and I laid down on the ground, almost perfectly beneath the dome (but not quite perfectly) and the lamp and I just cried. I cried a lot. There were German tourists that I probably scared away with my crying.  When I finished crying and generally carrying on like a crazy person, I took this photo. It was just with my phone, but I think it is my favorite photo. I took the photo, I got up and I was done crying, done scaring tourists and done with being on the ground. The dome on the fifth floor, of all places. (I say ‘of all places’ because the fifth floor was not the highest floor of this building and it seems odd to have a dome in the middle of a building, but this is Chicago and some things are just different than you’d expect).
